What you’ll be doing:
• Designing and building new features for Bakkiefy’s apps (user & driver)
• Working in a team of mobile engineers onAndroid platform
• Proactively fixing upcoming bugs and solving technical challenges
• Contributing ideas to our product development roadmap
What skills you should have:
• Advanced knowledge of Android SDK & Java
• Product-focused application development experience
• A university degree in a technical subject (Computer science, Mathematics or similar)

Data Engineer

Data Engineer
You will:
• Design and develop data storage, data processing and real-time machine learning pipelines based on AWS technologies and state-of-the-art frameworks;
• Develop robust and scalable deployment automation;
• Design and integrate real-time, self-service reporting and visualization solutions for decision making across the company;
• Enable the entire organization to continuously run and perform predictive experiments with a high-end technology platform;
• Keep yourself updated with advances in the fields related to data management, databases and cloud infrastructure.
We are expecting:
• A good grasp of purpose built databases, such as relational, columnar, object, OLAP, and key-value;
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud;
• Proficiency in statically typed language, messaging systems, SQL and Linux;
• A degree in Computer Science;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and superb work ethic.

Legal Counsel

We are looking for a 1st Legal Counsel to join Bakkiefy HQ team. Legal insight should be at the forefront of Bakkiefy’s rapid global expansion, enable the business to open & operate in new cities and territories, often dealing with novel issues along the way. This is all whilst ensuring that opening subsidiaries and local regulatory preparations get done on time, and that the multitude of other issues that arise at a scale-up are dealt with appropriately. The role should have reasonable balance between hands-on work and getting help from local law firms.
Based in Bakkiefy HQ in Johannesburg/South Africa you are working closely with founders, expansion managers, finance, HR and local city teams. We need business driven lawyer, who can replace “no, because,” with “yes, if.” Legal function is clearly seen as an enabler, not a blocker, and we would like to keep it that way.
We expect you to:
• Be a trusted legal advisor to management team and business – provide critical legal and strategic input on a wide range of complex and strategic business issues.
• Take ownership, coordinate all business critical legal matters (including regulatory and litigation) enabling smart growth with reasonable risk-management;
• Have demonstrated experience managing complex transactions – regulatory, competition and pricing issues, licensing, tax and strategic partnership agreements is preferred.
• Define project scope, select suitable local law firms, negotiate terms and make sure they deliver quality work on time and budget;
• Understand, interpret and apply current regulations as applicable to Bakkiefy platform based business model
• Provide guidance and shared templates to internal teams on risk factors related to business decisions and operations across a variety of legal disciplines, from data protection to competition advice
• Ensuring reasonable processes and documentation retention
You would have:
• 1+ years practice as lawyer, preferably worked or studied in South Africa for some years
• A well-rounded generalist with common sense, strong management, regulatory, competition and transactional experience supporting fast growing international technology company
• A desire to take the initiative and think two steps ahead
• Highly motivated, creative, entrepreneurial, and laser-focused on the details
• Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment, while collaborating to stay in sync and working independently to get the job done
• Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice and to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues
• Understanding how startups work – how to balance between maturity in corporate governance and operations, and the practical considerations of fast growth and scaling
• Mentoring and upskilling managers and team leads on relevant legal risks and solutions
• Fluent in written and spoken English, and a crisp writing style (South African and any other languages are useful)
• Excellent business judgment and interpersonal skills (outgoing, down-to-earth, and with a good sense of humor)

Country Manager – Southern Africa

We are looking for a Country Manager for Southern African Region. This means an exciting journey of scaling our operations to all the major cities in the southern African region and define our strategy on a national level, overseeing the operations in all of our local markets.

COUNTRY MANAGER – SOUTHERN AFRICA
You will:
• Lead the expansion of Bakkiefy to new cities in the Southern African region
• Define and implement and optimize operational processes and procedures
• Build, maintain, and communicate detailed reporting models to assist city-level, regional, and expansion efforts, and make data-driven decisions
• Develop strategic business partnerships with various stakeholders of the countries
• Have close interaction with government officials at council, drivers’ unions/ associations etc and states
• Execute local marketing campaigns and events, generating the loudest buzz in the region
• Help us with the expansion to the rest of the African continent and beyond
We really want you to:
• Have 2+ years operational management or general management experience
• Experience in sharing economy, Internet business, transport industry, startup or dynamic high-growth company a strong plus
• Have a data-driven analytical mindset (advanced Excel skills)
• Be a hustler, not stopping after 20 obstacles a day
• Have a BA in economics, finance or other analytical subject
• Be passionate about new technology and ridesharing
• Have an excellent Spanish and English level
